Because the background is so light the green edge makes the striking white 'wings' stand out so much more.

Thank you! The doily is actually on top of a box I have; it is a container that housed a set of dishes that I was given last Christmas (2015) and I use it to keep stitchings and fabric in . The lid makes a pretty background to photograph! And with the butterflies, the doily does indeed seem to take wings~
