Quilt progress, Geese Flight, WIP

this week I have progressed on the 2nd block in Quiltmania's mystery quilt

learning to do my first flight of geese block

and then progressing on a "panel" for an exchange  (France, open to all)

:)  I am thankful to have this opportunity to post what is in progress - it really helps me keep moving ahead and pressing on...and learning...continuing to learn and to grow

WIPW, work in progress wednesday, a beginning...quilt block work

Hooray! My first Work in Progress Wednesday!!  I have been a follower (albeit from a distance) of Work in Progress Wednesdays since I first started reading on Sharon's pintangle blog - I read back to see when it began..could it have been 2009?  I have been reading her blog even before that, using it as a helpful stitch reference - anyway...

before shot of leaf and center flower (finishing up the first block of Quiltmania's mystery quilt block 2015)   here is the after shot, showing the work in  progress completed so far

these leaves have the addition of rust+blue dmc floss embellishments, and

the center flower has the addition of blue, bright pink/red straight stitches and bright pink/red french knots.  ( my photo taking  is a whole work in progress unto itself :P  )

and have added filler stitches in as well

special thanks to Queenie, whose weekly postings of WIPW have inspired me these past years, so that I have finally joined along :D  thank you!!
 (3/19 I found this WIPW link-up: http://www.estheraliu.blogspot.com
via Karen's blog   fairies and fibres  )

Mystery Quilt "Colmar" 2015

Quiltmania magazine youtube

I am excited to begin the mystery Quilt featured via the magazine Quiltmania, by the designer Nathalie Meànce.  Though the templates and thorough instructions are found in the magazine issue itself, videos are posted on youtube in which Nathalie teaches and shows just about everything you need to know about the techniques.

The videos are posted first in French, and then in English.
(Quiltmania is also offering how-to videos for "Tuesday Sampler blocks" (in French) too, which I am eager to do as well)

so here I have begun the star block, thanks to the instruction of teacher Nathalie Meànce and the publishers of Quiltmania magazine :)  there is already embroidery instructions and trapunto as well!

the start of my block
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins,
the just for the unjust,
that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:  1 peter 3:18

He gave me Himself, paid my sin debt against Our Glorious Good and Righteous God, and saved me; He gave me a voice,
to tell others that He came to seek and to save them....what will you say?

Previous Steps....

Here is a photo before the free motion quilting....and then a photo after FMQ:

At first I was a bit intimidated to sew over the embroidery, but I am so pleased with how it turned out :)
